YouTube looks to sign next rap star with OntheRise Rap Edition
YouTube is looking to sign the next big rap star with a new initiative called OntheRise Rap Edition.
The web has begun to dominate music distribution more and more - from free to fee. Eventually somebody has got to make it big through one of these websites.
Artists will get signed to websites and record companies will slowly fade into the background.
It will probably be more non-exclusive signings though and it will have a lot to do with ringtones. So anyway young MC’s can submit there videos to the YouTube OnTheRise section and 50 Cent, Common and Polow da Don will judge the videos.
People like SoulJa Boy are already using sites like YouTube and MySpace to launch a buzz without any kind of official help.
The winner will go to New York and record with G-Unit/Interscope Records - get a $10,000 gift certificate to Guitar Center and will get a feature spot on YouTube’s homepage. So get yo video in yall… OntheRise Rap Edition.
